ABOUT ZIEDAH

Ziedah Diata is a Brooklyn, New York-based artist, attorney and nervous system hygiene guide who leads creative conversations at the crossroads of justice and healing. Since 2011, Ziedah has designed and facilitated public and small group explorations of what it means to be in “right relationship” with ourselves and others.

Ziedah brings to her workshops, art experiences and panel discussions a unique and nuanced perspective on both personal and societal safety.  Her work is inspired by the recurring themes--harm, repair, trauma, empathy and transformation--that emerged in testimony during her 17-year career at the New York State Department of State, where she served as Chief Administrative Law Judge during the peak of COVID-19. Ziedah now explores these same themes with a decidedly biased leaning toward bringing right-brain strategies and practices to an often limited, left-brain search for safety and wellbeing.

Ziedah's recent collaborators include the Intergenerational Change Initiative, the Laundromat Project, the New York City Bar Association and the Ariah Foundation. She has also served as an advisor or board member to organizations committed to justice and equity including the Restorative Justice Initiative and the National Association for Access to Justice at Fordham Law.

Ziedah was awarded the 2023 Laundromat Project Create Change Fellowship and the 2024 Bethany Arts Community Multidisciplinary Residency. She is the founder of the intergenerational art-making and storytelling project, Bed-Stuy Drawn Together.
